Kuala Lumpur, 1 Jun – Tomei Consolidated Berhad honoured its commitment to environmental sustainability today by contributed a sum of RM102,216.96 of “Tomei CARE Fund” to WWF-Malaysia for its conservation efforts.

The grand amount of fund is accumulated and contributed from the sale of the limited-edition gold coins collection in commemoration of WWF-Malaysia’s 50th anniversary since it was first marketed on 14th July 2022. A total of 171 sets has been sold by 30th April 2023 after the sale campaign was temporarily put on hold for the processing of fund handover.

it is indeed a remarkable milestone to Tomei and today’s presentation of the substantial amount of “Tomei CARE Fund” sees its Managing Director Datuk Ng Yih Pyng presenting the mock cheque to the Executive Director and CEO of WWF-Malaysia Sophia Lim, with the witnesses of Raja Tan Sri Aman Raja Haji Ahmad, Independent Non-executive Chairman of Tomei Consolidated Berhad and Tan Sri Abdul Wahid bin Omar, Chairman of WWF-Malaysia, as well as in the presence of Helina Yow, Director of Partnerships of WWF-Malaysia, Tan Sri Dr. Madinah binti Mohamad, Independent Non-Executive Director of Tomei Consolidated Berhad and Puan Sri Nonadiah binti Abdullah, Independent Non-Executive Chairman of YX Precious Metals Berhad.

The occasion marks the very first time in Tomei’s history to bring about such generous deeds for environmental sustainability. The contribution reflects Tomei as a socially and environmentally-responsible business; willing to take the much-needed efforts and initiatives to repair the bond between humans and nature.

The exclusive and limited-edition of gold coins collection portrays the design of four endangered wildlife animals and was officially launched by Tomei Consolidated Berhad together with WWF-Malaysia during the celebration of WWF-Malaysia’s 50th anniversary. The collection is limited to only 300 sets and manufactured under environmentally-friendly practices, including its packaging as well. Each gold coin is made entirely from melting down the traded-in gold from customers which is identified as “recycled gold”.

“The collection containing 100g of gold was each sold at RM29,888.00 in conjunction with the Tomei CARE fund support campaign to pledge funding support to WWF-Malaysia. 2% of the selling price for each item sold will be contributed as ‘Tomei CARE Fund’ to support the conservation works,” said Tan Sri Dr. Madinah binti Mohamad, the independent non-executive director of Tomei Consolidated Berhad.

Apart from the 171 sets of collection which has been sold, Tan Sri Dr. Madinah also announces that Tomei and WWF-Malaysia have both reached a consensus to continue the collaboration with one more campaign for the sale of the remaining 129 one-of-a-kind sets of gold coins collection.

“While the contribution will still remain the same, which is 2% of the selling price for each sold item to WWF-Malaysia, the pricing of the collection will however be different from the previous as the retail price is fixed according to the fluctuation of market price.”

According to Tan Sri Dr. Madinah, the upcoming Tomei CARE Fund Support Campaign will start soon and is planned to be completed by the end of May 2024 with a minimum contribution of RM50,000.00.

She also emphasizes that the upcoming campaign will be the final chance to own the limited-edition gold coins collection and urges customers who intend to purchase this inflation-proof and celebratory collection to act fast before it is out of stock.

Furthermore, Tan Sri Dr. Madinah also notes that the occasion is even more meaningful to Tomei since it is held during the celebration of Tomei’s 55th anniversary, as well as the celebration of 50th World Environment Day on coming Monday (5th June).

“We will launch ‘Tomei CARE Week’ for the second time starting tomorrow, which is an online campaign to raise public awareness on environmental sustainability and rejuvenation of the environment in conjunction with the upcoming World Environment Day.”

Among the members of board of directors of Tomei Consolidated Berhad who attended today’s occasion include Executive Director Ng Yih Chen, Datin Choong Chow Mooi and Independent Non-Executive Director Datuk M Chareon Sae Tang.

2. Ladies and gentlemen, as a socially and environmentally responsible business, Tomei has been practising environmental sustainability in our daily operations for many years. Indeed, we have taken various efforts and initiatives in raising environmental awareness among our customers.

3. Last year, we were determined to engage in greater efforts by launching an exclusive project named “Tomei CARE”, which stands for “Tomei Cares About the Rejuvenation of Environment”. With the launch of 2 campaigns, which are “Tomei CARE Week” to focus on raising public awareness on environmental conservation, and “Tomei CARE Fund Support Campaign” to pledge fund support to WWF-Malaysia for its conservation works on a broad range of wildlife and ecological systems in Malaysia, I am delighted to inform you that our valuable customers are fully onboard with these initiatives as well.

4. Once again, on behalf of Tomei, I would like to express my utmost gratitude to WWF-Malaysia for giving us this precious opportunity to contribute to environmental conservation, and hand-in-hand with them towards building a future in which humans live in harmony with nature. We were also honoured to carry this project out especially during the celebration of WWF-Malaysia’s 50th anniversary.

5. Ladies and gentlemen, for your information, the supporting fund was contributed from the sale of the limited-edition gold coins collection in commemoration of WWF-Malaysia’s 50th Anniversary. A total of 300 exclusive and limited sets of gold coins was marketed since the first launched on July last year.

6. The unique collection was produced under environmentally-friendly practices in the manufacturing process, together with the packaging as well. Each gold coin was made entirely from melting down the trade-in gold from our customers, which we identified as “recycled gold.” There were 4 pieces of limited-edition gold coins in different designs for each set, weighing 100gram of gold.

7. The collection was sold at RM29,888.00 each and 2% of the selling price were contributed to support WWF-Malaysia’s conservation works, with a commitment of minimum contribution of RM50,000.00. Indeed, it is my pleasure to announce that, a total of 171 sets have been sold by April this year, after its sale campaign was temporarily put on hold for the processing of fund handover.

8. With reference to the above, I am delighted to announce that, an amount of one hundred and two thousand, two hundred and sixteen Ringgit and nighty six cents (RM102, 216.96) is to be presented today as “Tomei CARE Fund” to WWF-Malaysia. My sincerest and utmost gratitude to all our beloved customers who had joined the efforts and made today a huge success. Bravo and well done!

Thank you WWF-Malaysia, we truly appreciate your trust in us and it is a great honour to be working side-by-side again.

12. The upcoming Tomei CARE Fund Support Campaign will start shortly and is set to run until the end of May 2024. While the contribution for WWF-Malaysia will remain the same as 2% of the selling price of each sold item, the pricing of the collection however will be different from the previous, in which to be fixed according to the fluctuation of market gold price. Nevertheless, a minimum contribution of RM50,000.00 as our commitment remains the same.
