The tale of Tomei began 55 years ago in 1968, when the founder, Tan Sri Datuk Ng Teck Fong set his heart and mind on transforming the jewelry business here in Malaysia. He chose the Chinese name “Tomei”, which translates to “an abundance of beauty” in English.
Fast forward to five decades and an abundance of beautifully designed pieces later, Tomei still remains one of the biggest jewelry brands, offering quality gold and fine pieces that often serve as investments and heirlooms for many generations to come.

The Tomei brand and team have gone through quite an illustrious journey for the past 55 years.
55 years of creating and designing. 55 years of serving discerning customers. 55 years of meeting unique individuals from all walks of life.
Looking back, we are certainly honored and proud to have met people who have played a part in shaping Tomei’s ever-evolving story and journey. This is why, for our 55th anniversary, we shine the spotlight on the most beautiful jewels of all: our customers, who are essentially our main inspiration and the driving force behind Tomei.
Our 55th-anniversary celebration, aptly called “Bloom From Within”, pays homage to our precious blooms – our #tomeigirls – our customers who complete our jewelry pieces in a way that not only makes them look good, but also feel good from within.
It is through this celebration that we unveil and announce the theme color for Tomei in 2023: a shade of green that coincides with our 55th anniversary, a year that is associated with emerald.
This deep green shade represents tradition and modernity, and symbolizes eternal commitment – a direct reflection of Tomei’s promise to honor tradition, embrace modernity, and commit to bringing only the best to our customers.

It’s a great pleasure for me to give you a warm welcome, Selamat Datang.
On behalf of Tomei Consolidated Berhad, I would like to express my utmost gratitude to Yang Berhormat Minister, for taking the time to join us on this very special occasion and to officiate today’s ceremony.

Since its inception in 1968, Tomei has achieved numerous milestones and grown by leaps and bounds. Tomei was the first jeweller in Malaysia to sell gold jewellery that met international standards in the 1980s. In the 1990’s, Tomei collaborated with a well-known German manufacturer to produce premium quality gold chains and jewellery, greatly improving its production and design, strengthening product quality assurance.
In the 21st century, Tomei has obtained the franchise manufacturing and distribution rights for Looney Tunes and Hello Kitty, as well as introduced well-known overseas jewellery brands such as Prima Gold and acquired LeLumiere, an international diamond brand to provide customers with more product options.
Today marks another milestone, our 55th anniversary. We aspire to uphold the “integrity and innovation” values instilled in me by Tomei founder and my late father, Tan Sri Datuk Dr Ng Teck Fong. Inheriting his founding core values, we will forge ahead for more breakthroughs and hope to achieve greater heights.
My late father chose the brand name “Tomei,” which means “an abundance of beauty” in Chinese. Moving forward, we will expand on this foundation and further define the brand as “abundant and beautiful”, focusing not only on products, but also on our customers.
“Bloom from Within” is the theme of the Tomei Emerald Year celebration. It refers to our elegant and diverse jewellery collections designed to complement our customers, to enhance their character and allow them to proudly adorn and express their personal style regardless of which pieces are worn. In terms of product design and development, Tomei’s jewellery pieces will continue to prioritise functionality, practicality and fashion, in ensuring that each piece will bring joy to the beholder as per our vision statement.
Ladies and gentlemen,
I would like to take this opportunity to unveil the colour theme for Tomei this year – a shade of green that corresponds with our 55th anniversary, a year associated with the emerald. This deep green colour represents eternal commitment, and it is a direct reflection of Tomei’s promise to honour tradition, embrace modernity, and bring only the best to our customers.
Moving forward, we will continue to improve and strengthen product offerings, leveraging our country’s unique cultural and creative elements to tell the Malaysian story through Tomei’s products. We believe that this will inspire customers and even tourists to want to own a piece of Tomei that is rich in Malaysian culture.
Tomei’s future development strategy will also be in line with the global environmental, social and governance (ESG) trends in order to attract more investors and strengthen the company’s competitive advantage.
